Sony has responded to complaints of PlayStation 3 consoles locking players out of PSN and disabling certain games from playing. The company says it hopes. Hello there, this is a little tutorial video on how to fix a specific Playstation 3 error, relevant to the installation of an update.

Ps3 Update Error 8002f14e

We just got our new PS3 online for first time tonight. So far, so good. It wanted to do a system software update- sounds good, OK. At 42% on the system update progress bar, it stopped and threw up the following error message: 'An error occurred during the update operation. Contact technical support.' The error number is 8002F1F0. I reset the PS3, but when I powered back on it automatically went back into the update routine, with no option to get out of it, and stopped at the same point as before.

This happened several times. Can anyone advise me on how to bypass this and get back to the PS3 menu, so that I can do a manual system software update? Much appreciated. First things first. Download the latest version of the PlayStation 3 Update (to a USB / External Device has to be formatted to FAT32). Remove PlayStation 3 Hard Drive (PS3 / HDD). Place HDD into a computer for reformatting process. Now use Windows / Ubuntu.

Or any formatting tool and format it to (FAT32) (for Ubuntu: When formatting change it from ext32 to Unformatted). After it being completed remove the PS3 HDD. Place HDD back into PS3. Go into Recovery Options / Safe Mode.

Now choose #6 (System Update) and then follow the instructions it'll ask u to reformat it do it and then following will be the installing of the latest version for PS3 and. It'll work and won't go back into that updating loop, Enjoy! (these are the steps i had to take in order for it to be fixed). As all three of you are having the same issue, maybe talking to each other about the things you did, the setup you have etc will help you all when you ring up Technical support. That seems the only choice.

I would recommend resetting your routers, also holding down the power on button for 5 seconds so you hear two beeps, this will do a reset on the system, hopefully this will get it out of the loop your experiencing. If it does try downloading the firmware from the UK playstation website, stick it on a memory stick and try updating like that. Also, I am not sure how this works, is someone from manufacturers side reading these as well cause I would like to hear their comment about this, I do appreciate your help and guidance, but I still would like to get Sony's comment to this as well before doing something that might cause that I have no warranty in my ps3. Its really odd that they have not instructed their re-seller channels from this problem and to be honest, this kind of ruined my weekend. So, I would like to be sure and hear what sony has to say about this and handle it by the book, this is quite funny that you guys were able to solve this in no time and meanwhile I even havent found phone number from where I could ask about this.:) So in case you are able to find email or phone number to their help desk or technical support for Finland, I really would appreciate this, anycase, I will take it to Sony's distributor tomorrow just to instruct them to tell peopple about this kind of problems and how this update should be made.

Many thanks for your help so far.you are doing free work for Sony, make sure that you are getting something in change. I didn't matter if this will brake the warranty, because i bought my PS 3 in a big electronic mall here in Germany on saturday. And if i hadn't solve the problem yesterday, i planned to change it in the mall - and i'm really sure, they will had changed it. There is also no warranty seal you have to break if you open this little cover, just a little bit of blue paint on the screw head, but if you screw carefully you would not damage this paint. You can remove it very, very easy.

There is also a metal bow on the framework the HDD is fixed in to pull it out. And because of the S-ATA interface there's no cable to plug in or out, just pull it out and push it back.;) I my eyes the HDD is designed to change it very easy and without loosing warranty. There's not even a screw in the framework! Only two brackets!

My advice: open one litte cover, screw the screw out, start the PS3, wait until 3%-4% percent (i did so) pull the HDD out and wait what will happen! Put the HDD back. Maybe you have to start it once again.

If it will fix the problem you can play again.;) If it will not - change the system or contact the Sony support. Or you let it be and only contact the support. I think its worth a try! But i will not force anybody! I only think you should not be to scary.

The bad update is not your fault, you only want to fix it. Best regards. Even the distributors technical support could not get it moving, my ps3 was sent to importer as they had no clue how to solve this and that they had never heard about this problem:) it only raises you points as you were able to crack this in no time. What happened is that they gave me 120 gb version to substitute my 250gb version until they will get replacement from the importer. I just realized that Sony has to be the worst company to stand in front of their problems. They are only dropping all their responsibilities to their value chain and eventually to end customer like me. I am really dissapointed, not only that I spent several hours in net, searching for the root cause and trying figure this out by my self+ driving +calls to distributor.

Not to even mention 7hours I lost by playing and all that data will be lost. Man, I have to say that in the end, its us, end users who are paying and testing their products. So, as you may notice that this issue got my blood boiling and only thing that I was lacking is the instruction from what to do if something goes wrong, some support from sony, but they dont even have support here in Finland for technical problems.what a dissapointment. No humanity. But as for the silver lining, you were able to tackle this problem faster than they even knew that they have made error in new version.that my friend is what I can call good work. Many thanks & lets hope that once they will send new ps to me, it will work like it should be working.;) good night and regards from cold north!

UpdateDestiny ps3 update error

I also had the same problem as you guys, and i tried taking the HDD out half way through the install and it did nothing except give me a minute's countdown to basically put it back, after talking to peope on various forums i tried the re-formatting teqhnique, which was taking it to my local currys electrical and paying them £29.99 to clear everything on there. I went home, inserted the HDD back in its place and i got rid of the loop and i now had the 1 to 6 option list after doing the beep sequence,so i phoned technical support and they told me to choose option 3,nothing happened so then they said try option 5 and still nothing so now im waiting on a phone call from the manager tommorrow to hopefully discuss a fix or refurb free of charge,at the end of the day i would still be playing it if i didnt try to install there latest update,in fact we all would so after reading your problems it can only help my cause. I will post on this forum the outcome of my talk with the manager.

I found this answer on a forum (link below):. take out the hard drive. connect hard drive to pc. open up disk management - in win7 it asked me to make a master book record, so I did.

format in NTFS - that's right, NTFS - don't use quick format. get the rom of whatever version you were on before you upgraded - i had to search, but i found the us 3.30 rom. copy that rom to usb drive in folders PS3 UPDATE put rom named PS3UPDAT.PUP here. shut down pc, take out hd, take usb drive too. put hd back in ps3, put usb stick in ps3.

configure your ps3 setup - done (source: ). Hey man as I mentioned before my nephews PS3 had the same problem. All I did to fix it was:. tear the entire PS3 apart to clean it and re apply thermal paste. While I had the mobo out I thought about removing the PRAM battery to see if that would fix the update error. After I put the PS3 back together I turned it on WITHOUT a hard drive then when the missing HD error came up I inserted the HD then turned the PS3 off. I turned it back on and the update ran right off the batt as usual except it was updating much faster.

I just let it finish and it actually finished the update and booted into the home screen. All his saved data as well as media was still there and it is now running fine. I do not think you have to do the whole thermal paste deal but just remove the PRAM battery for a while then try what I did with the HD. I hope this helps.
